At The Studio School we do not assign nightly homework. We HIGHLY encourage students to read every night. Based on research, the table below shows the amount of at home reading practice recommended for students at their grade level.

Teachers may send Home Links (from the EM4 Math resource) depending on the daily math lesson. Home Links should be review skills and not new learning.
When students are unable to complete assignments in class, teachers may contact parents and request that work be finished at home. This will be on a case by case basis and parents should expect communication from the teacher when this happens.
There may also be at home practice required for students in grade level performances. This will be communicated if necessary for your child.
Makeup Work
There is no substitute for missed instruction. When students are absent, they miss the opportunity to have lessons delivered by highly qualified teachers. Students also miss classroom discussions and interactions that are impossible to replicate. Teachers may ask students to make-up missed work in order to assess progress and/or take grades. When students are absent, they will have two school days for every one school day that they miss to complete make-up work. For example, if the student is out for three school days, they would have six school days to complete assigned work. A teacher may choose to extend the number of days based on circumstances. If the work is not completed on time, the student may receive a zero or an incomplete on the assignment. Teachers are not required to provide work prior to a planned absence.
