THE STUDIO PROGRAM

The Studio School Artist in Residence

Throughout the year, The Studio School will invite professional artists to work with our students. Residencies have many benefits. Working with artists can allow students to expand their understanding of what is possible with a medium, to improve their skills, to experience different perspectives and to learn more about the life of a professional artist. The artist in residence program will help build a strong community of emerging artists at The Studio School.

Our first artist residence is September 4th, 5th and 6th. All k-5 students will experience all 3 of these residencies in their specials classes.

DANCE/DRAMA RESIDENCY - Teaching Artists from Denver Center for the Performing Arts: Education will work with students in Drama and Dance. Students will be introduced to a variety of skills including comedy, storytelling, creating scenes and maybe a little Shakespeare.

ART RESIDENCY - The Studio School is excited to welcome ceramic artist Bradley Klem for our first visual arts residency this year. During the week of Sep 4th-6th students will have the opportunity to meet Brad, learn about his artwork, and explore new techniques as we begin our adventures in clay this year.  Brad received his MFA from Penn State University and currently resides in Denver, CO, where he teaches at the University of Denver. His work features porcelain vessels that are painted with illustrations that  use metaphor, dark humor, and historical context to comment on climate change and environmental issues. Check his amazing work at bradleyklem.com.

MUSIC RESIDENCY - Bob Hall has worked with Think360Arts/Young Audiences for over 30 years teaching and performing African drumming.  Bob has studied and performed with Master drummers from Senegal, Guinea and Ghana. Drumming enhances memory, motor skills, teamwork along with thought processing and problem solving in rhythm exercises that Bob has developed over his 40 years of experience. We are so happy to welcome him to The Studio School as our Artist in Residence to work with all of our Studio School students on September 4-6!

Perfect Attendance Incentive

We have partnered with the Colorado Rapids to reward and incentivize attendance here at The Studio School by giving students who have perfect attendance (This includes no tardies, absences, or early departures) from September 4th - September 23rd, a complimentary ticket to a Colorado Rapids match (with the purchase of an additional).  Students who qualify will receive a ticket link voucher to redeem their complimentary ticket with purchase of additional discounted tickets.
