I was born and raised in Colorado, living most of my childhood in Erie. I attended Colorado State University majoring in Human Development and Family Studies. Then I received my teaching license and Masters degree from University of Colorado at Denver. In 2004 I began working for Adams 12 Five Star Schools at Leroy Drive Elementary School.
I can remember the excitement I felt in early 2008 when my administrator told me of a new arts magnet school that would be opening the following school year. With his encouragement I applied for one of the lead teacher positions. I have been happily teaching at the Studio School even since. Integrating arts has opened a world of engaging instructional methods to me. There is no turning back... I'm hooked!
On a personal note I am passionate about being outdoors, spending my free time in the mountains, backpacking, hiking, and skiing with my family. My husband Josh and I have two creative children who are also Studio School students. As a parent I love watching my child grow through drama, visual arts, music and dance. As an artist I also love creating functional art. What problem can I solve? What needs can be met? My favorite art medium is clay.
